Thinking about Propane?

Here are 5 reasons you may consider switching to propane and why it’s a good option when it comes to home heating.

1. Propane Heats Up More Quickly Than Electricity

Propane has a higher octane rating than gasoline, and it has an incredibly high energy density, compared to other traditional fuels like heating oil. Because it has a very high energy density, propane is a very effective heating-agent. It can offer much better heating performance compared to other fuel sources.

For example, a furnace-based electric heat pump usually supplies warm air that’s just slightly warmer than the human body – around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. A propane furnace, on the other hand, can consistently deliver air that’s around 115 degrees in temperature – allowing the air in your home to be warmed more effectively and quickly.

Propane is also extremely effective at heating water. An electric boiler may take nearly an hour to heat an entire hot water tank – but the typical propane heater can do the job in as little as 20 minutes.

2. Propane Is Clean And Environmentally Friendly

Propane burns more cleanly than any other fossil fuel on the planet – kerosene, heating oil, gasoline, and natural gas included. It’s been listed and certified as a clean fuel in both, the 1990 Clean Air Act and the Energy Policy Act of 1992. It has a very low carbon content, so it produces minimal harmful emissions, making it incredibly safe.

Propane also does not contaminate soil or groundwater – so your surrounding environment will not be affected.

3. Your Propane Appliances Will Still Work In An Emergency

If a natural disaster takes out the power grid, your electrical appliances will no longer work correctly. Your heater, stove, oven, and even your lights will stop working entirely.

However, if you choose to use propane for home heating, you can avoid this situation entirely. Propane appliances will continue to work in the event of an emergency, natural disaster, or another scenario where the power grid is knocked out.

Not only that, you can even buy a propane generator that will convert your propane into electricity – allowing you to run your electric appliances in an emergency, as well!

4. Propane Is Extremely Safe

Propane tanks are can be installed above ground or  buried deep within your property, and they are extremely resistant to puncturing, leakage, and other issues.  At Pipeline Petroleum we only install propane tanks above ground.

Propane also produces very little carbon monoxide. While it’s still recommended to use carbon monoxide detectors in your home, propane reduces the risk of a serious, life-threatening leak.

5. Propane Appliances Can Save You Money

Propane is up to 30% more efficient when it comes to heating water, compared to electric water heaters. Tankless propane heaters can also be used to save even more money, as they do not require the heating and holding of large volumes of water.

This increased efficiency allows you to save money while enjoying better performance from your household appliances.
